Elearning Content Development – SunRay Enterprise Inc

Objective: To develop a comprehensive CD/Web Based Instructor Aided Learning Content for interactive training on Operating Procedures, Maintenance and Trouble Shooting of BOP Control Unit- Called Blow Out Preventer Control Unit

Expectation: The eLearning content should substantially aid the instructor to

  • Visually/graphically explain the operation of BOP Unit with animations/Video, Demonstrate critical performance or maintenance areas.
  • Constructing multiple levels of navigation to simulate areas not seen by naked eye.

Scope of the project:

  • To design, Develop a Comprehensive CD/Web based Instruction Manual with Full 3D simulation of the BOP Contol Unit/
  • 3D animation of Individual Parts/ Animation to explain the Princple of Operations/ Explain the Various types of BOP and its operations.
  • Complete Maintenece /Trouble shooting of the BOP Control to be explained through animations and Video Clips.

Project Timeline: To meet critical code-freeze deadlines and the launch date, this project was delivered in 10 weeks.

What is BOP/BOP Control Unit?

Blowout preventer (BOP) is a large valve that encases an oil well at surface. During drilling or well interventions, the valve may be closed if overpressure from an oil reservoir causes formation fluids such as oil and natural gas to back up within the wellbore and threaten the rig. By closing this valve (usually operated remotely via hydraulic actuators or called BOP Contol Units), the drilling crew can prevent explosive pressure release, thus regaining control of the reservoir pressure.

Project Outcome:

  • The application substantially reduced the learning time required by engineers by 50%.(ex. Training Program for BOP Unit reduced from 2 weeks to 1 week)
  • The self-explanatory learning application increased the levels of understanding of BOP Control Unit among drill engineers.
  • This has greatly helped the instructors to explain complex concepts of machine operation and maintenance easily in interactive 3D form with cross sectional
  • The overall productivity of Training program increased substantially.
